Humiecki & Graef presents with Candour, a fragrance that is inspired by the feeling of attachment. It is the brand’s ninth eau de toilette concentrée and engages, as do all perfumes by Humiecki & Graef, one aspect of the broad spectrum of human emotions.

 

Candour expresses the irreplaceable gift of mutual empathy, which is based on a commonly shared experience of two kindred spirits.

 

The name Candour describes the emotional state of the particular directness and open exchange between two (connected) people who have left the tentative phase of their relationship far behind. Two people who have developed their own intuitive language. The inspiration for the fragrance by Humiecki & Graef is the moment when these two people, who have gone their separate ways, meet up once again. 

 

At this time, there is at the crossroads of these different ways of life, an openness which is determined by a single question: What if? It is a refreshing moment of truth, total clarity in which there can be a sequel or where a shared history finally ends. A combination of sweet melancholy (carried by one's own personal history) in the here and now, and full of fruitful future promise - fresh, yet familiar. It is owned by without owning, knowledge without controlling, judging without insight, finitude and infinity in equal measure.

 

To express this particular state of harmonious contrasts, Candour combines the refreshing vitality green foliage with the earthy warmth of calamus, iris, ginger and galbanum root. Violet and olive leaves, wild sage and lavender add an herbaceous note. The composition is mitigated by the sweetness of cardamom and almond milk with vanilla pods. Sandalwood and the delicate floral scent of lily of the valley offset the fragrance. The result is a juicy, green scent with a hint of parchment - a reference to a long and confidential correspondence. The scent is invigorating, yet gentle, warm and soothing. Just like that moment when the past, present and future flow into each other.
