Hinoki is a Japanese cypress known for its woody, fresh and balsamic aroma, often associated with spirituality and meditation. In music, Canone Inverso is a figure in which the main melody is played in retrograde, or backwards, offering a feeling of reflection, introspection and a strong connection with the past.

Bergamot opens this jus with a lively brightness while Sichuan Pears add an intriguing and spicy sweetness; the pungent intensity of Ginger transmits curiosity and a sense of adventure.

Hinoki infuses an earthy and contemplative depth, transporting the soul to a zen garden, where serenity reigns supreme; Iris adds a note of ethereal elegance, creating a sublime and enveloping contrast.

A base of Vetiver, combined with Cedarwood, provides a mysterious sensuality and Cypress, with its balsamic notes, gives a feeling of space and freedom.

Antoine Maisondieu highlighted the use of Hinoki with “Hinoki” from the Monocle Scent One series, a perfume created for Comme des Garçons, in collaboration with Monocle in 2008.
